Charlotte, North Carolina, Mayor Vi Lyles released a statement following a brutal stabbing on the city’s public transit system, blaming the horrific situation on a lack of “social safety nets” and claiming that there was no way to “arrest our way out issues such as homelessness and mental health.” Video circulated of DeCarlos Brown Jr., who was known by local police to be homeless and not mentally stable, attacking Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on August 22, while both were aboard the light rail, and stabbing her three times with a folding knife. If Democrats in the Senate continue to block a short-term government funding plan, a program that allows low-income and Medicare patients to be treated at home rather than in a hospital will expire, the White House warns. “This program has been a success and is popular with patients and providers.” “While Republicans voted to extend it, Democrats are more than happy to harm these patients and force them out of their homes so that they can shut the government down,” the administration official added. Meta AI launched “Vibes” in September, which the company describes as “a new feed in the Meta AI app and on meta.ai where you can create and share short-form, AI-generated videos.” A Meta spokesman told The Daily Wire that the video in question was “user-generated content” that “has been removed from this recommendation surface as it violated our protocols for promotions.” It is unclear how user-generated videos are selected for the promotion, nor if there are any safeguards in place to ensure content that violates “protocols for promotions” is weeded out. The response said the image depicts a “manipulated photo of Donald Trump kneeling and adjusting his tie while interacting with a large, black horned creature, likely a satanic or demonic figure.” Although the image captured only a screenshot of the AI-generated video, the response added that the image is “likely a satirical or humorous representation, rather than a real event.” “The ad is from Meta AI, promoting their free AI creation tools,” the response from Meta’s AI read. The Daily Wire asked Meta to clarify which specific protocol the imagery may have violated; whether the material was user-generated content incorporated into the promotion; whether it was deliberately selected or randomly populated; and whether Meta has systems in place to prevent protocol-violating content from appearing in this manner.

Providence Health hosted a virtual version of grand rounds — a weekly occurrence where leading doctors train other physicians and staff in crucial methodologies — aimed at providing better understanding of the “intense fear in which their immigrant patients are living” and taught staff how to be effective advocates during ICE encounters “within the boundaries of internal policy,” according to a document and recording reviewed by The Daily Wire. At the start of the presentation, a Providence Health staff member noted federal immigration enforcement was causing the community “deep pain.” “I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the deep pain, fear and grief being felt across our communities in light of the recent escalation and federal immigration enforcement activity and the tragic fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minnesota,” said Kara Johnson, the senior director of women and children’s services at Providence, at the beginning of the session. The call to “push back” was apparently made during a staff meeting and passed along by public information officer Charla Haley, whose job is to communicate with the public about what’s happening at the health department, to other employees in the Utah Department of Health in an email on January 10, 2024. The resource said that using “chosen name & pronouns,” supporting “gender expression,” encouraging “inclusive practices,” and being “active in the legislative process,” would “increase the likelihood of your LGBTQ+ child having a healthy and happy future.” The resource also said to “speak up when you hear stereotypes about LGBTQ+ people,” and “talk with your religious leaders to help your congregation become more supportive of LGBTQ+ people.” The inclusive practices the resource said to support included “including pronouns on enrollment forms,” “name and pronoun change procedures,” “LGBTQ+ professional development for staff,” “sports participation for transgender and gender non-binary youth,” “inclusive curricula,” and “affirming clubs (Gender & Sexuality Alliances).” The resource told parents to use their children’s chosen pronouns, not their biological ones, and to “correct” themselves when they “make a mistake.” “Listen to your child to understand what being transgender or gender nonbinary means to them, and what it feels like,” the resource said, adding, “Try to use their chosen name and pronouns, and correct yourself in the moment when you make a mistake.” The resource also claimed that studies “found that youth who have parental and school support to transition socially have significantly better mental health outcomes than youth without that support.” Cox’s office did not respond to requests for comment on the emails.
